On the first weekend of September (the 6th of September) we held a meeting in Târnoviţa, where the local people proved to have a substantial knowledge about herbs. It turned out that at the beginning of the 20th century they used to have a herb garden in the church yard. Around the village one can pick wild marjoram, St John’s wort, dandelion, milk thistle, but blackthorn, rosehip, thorn, ground pinecan also be found in the pine-grow. They make tea or syrups from them. For instance, the pine sprout syrup is not only tasty, but also very good against coughing.
