On the 13th of May, in Cluj Napoca, was held the first training sustained by Dr. Florian Simion, the general director of the company SN Plafar SA, where the students learned first-hand information about the specific drying and processing of herbs, the plants used in the cosmetic industry, the possible confusions and the natural and artificial conditioning possibilities of plants.
The group of Cluj, made his first field trip of the project “Social integration of disadvantaged people in rural areas by gathering and processing of medicinal plants in a sustainable way” under the guidance of Professor Dan Varban from the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Cluj Napoca. The group had the opportunity to visit the university greenhouses and learned how to maintain the seedlings and how to replant them.
In the second part of the day, the group visited the Botanical Garden of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine. Mrs. Dr. Rodica Varban presented the participants the history of medicinal and aromatic plants in Romania, methods of harvesting and storing them since the nineteenth century. The participants won an insight into the topics taught at USAMV and the practical work done by students during their studies. The last part of the day the participants were privileged to see the agro-botanical garden of the University and various species of herbaceous trees and plants in there.
